The Talks of Dr. Lionel Corbett – 4 – Problem of Evil

Greetings everyone –

Continuing with the series of Talks of Dr. Lionel Corbett, this coming Wednesday May 27, we will be producing our fourth talk: The Problem of Evil.

This lecture will discuss the sources of evil from the point of view of both individual and social psychology. We will compare traditional religious views of evil with psychological approaches. In particular, we will look at the developmental factors that predispose to evil behavior from the point of view of Jungian theory and psychoanalytic theory. We will discuss Jung’s notion of the dark side of the Self, or archetypal evil, and its relationship to the personal shadow.

Each of Lionel Corbett’s talks will be recorded, streamed live on YouTube, and available later on in the day on YouTube and other web platforms for subsequent viewing.  To participate in the recording session and to have an opportunity to ask Dr. Corbett questions, please register to attend the talk for Wednesday morning, May 27 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM PST.  Working closely with author, professor and religious scholar, Dr. F. Gard Jameson, my good friend and Myth Salon colleague Dr. Will Linn and I are seeking to explore new frontiers of scholarship during the time of everyone’s home confinement.  These Zoom sessions are working sessions where Dr. Corbett delivers material sufficient for an hour of edited material.
